Ori and the Blind Forest does a wonderful job of manipulating color and value to signify certain aspects of the game. For color, everything that is good is blue and white; it signifies purity and innocence. Anything red, purple, or orange is dangerous to the protagonist. A color could also emphasize an object of importance as an object the player must move; it stands out from the background. For value, the lighter the tone, the more pure that object/npc is, and the darker the tone, the more of a threat that object/npc is. In addition, a value could also signify a new point in the game. When both values clash together, it would signify a cutscene.
