Maleficent utilizes both unity and contrast throughout the trailer. Unity comes in the form of allies rallying together to fight for their respective sides, and as well as the film cuts ( transitioning from one scene to another ) was in sync with the music ( base cutting in and out ). In addition, contrast becomes apparent when the entire scene is in a damp greyscale, and the only other color is a lime green. Green is a symbol for nature, or in Disney's terms, evil. There are times when symmetry is utilized to emphasize on the scale of the scene - for instance, showing the audience a view of the castle and the forest.
Cinderella has more unity than contrast, but still incorporates both into the movie. A telling of an old story anew must drive alongside the path of the original, as well as the aesthetic and music. By maxing out these points, audiences are left in awe at how magical and wondrous the world of Cinderella is without breaking away from the fantasy. Of course, contrast comes into play through value and scale. The mice and animals compared to the human beings, as well as her tattered and rustic colored clothes compared to her ballgown and luxurious jewelry is a sight to behold. In the end, Cinderella does a wonderful job of creating a fantasy without losing its momentum.
