DEMON SLAYER is a new anime released in 2019, and is still ongoing. It is a very, very beautiful anime that integrates both 2d and 3d motion graphics. In this scene, the protagonist, Tanjiro, is increasing his attacks against a formidable foe - Rui. The threads he cut are supposed to be impossible to severe in normal conditions, so when he does cut them, his motion is slowed to really emphasize on the impact of his actions - he can close the distance now between him and his foe to land the final attack. At 0:30, it is seem that a long shot of of him running towards Rui, but with great danger: he cannot stop for if he does, he will be immobile for a long time. Slowing time allows for actions or situations to seem more dire, and really relays the message across to viewers.
As the speed resumes to normal, we really see just how FAST Tanjiro is actually moving. His moves are incredibly intricate, as he works his way towards his target. There is a built up of anticipation - will he be shredded first or will he be able to behead the demon to protect his sister? At the end, the blade hits his neck, but it doesn't immediately cut due to how hard the skin is. However, it builds up more anticipation to show the power of Tanjiro's swings. As Rui's head flies off his body, it does so in such a drastic way, it is literally blown off and swept clean.
